On Death

For the last few weeks, one of my friends has been close to death several times. For me, it has been a time to reflect on what is really important in this life, and also the life to come. Life, when you boil it down to the basic elements, is about taking time to love your family members, love your friends, love your neighbors, and even love your enemies.

My friend is not asking those around him about his boat, his house, his business or his car. He is asking that his loved ones be near him. So I'm making note of this. I'm working on hugging my kids and wife a bit more, and expressing out loud to them that I love them. I am making sure that if anything happens to me, that I leave behind a legacy of love and positive impact on this world and for eternity.
